Meh..I'd give it a 7. It's an alright Final Fantasy game, but it's not the best one. It doesn't really compare to some of them. It's better than a few, but then it's alot worse than others.

An 8 out of 10. Only thing I saw wrong was it's customization system. Other than that, solid story and funny characters, plus surreal ending and you know I have to like it. I've never understood why people whine about why it's 'too modern' or 'the characters suck' or some other stupid complaint.

Or more hilarious of all, 'a gun sword isn't realistic'. xD No kidding, it is a Final Fantasy after all. :p

:p I wasn't whining. I just enjoy Fantasy-styled games a lot more than the Serieux-realistic futurism which is FFVIII.
But still, in a few words: Final Fantasy VIII is a good game. The Junction system may be annoying in the beginning, but ultimately it's totally broken (All my characters had 3000 Hp at the end of the first disc). Only a few characters are quite awesome, and a good storyline.

i think the magic thing where u draw it is a dodgy, also with the abilities. i think abilities is a goo idea but it could be better

i like the story, at the end it got a bit confusing lol. i mean if the machine was used in the future(time machine) why not distroy it now and it wont be in the future lol

i also think limit break could be better i dont like the random 1s. On squall i kept getting blasting zone and i wanted lion heart got me vexed aspecially when i was fighting ultima weapon.

As for that midieval thing. I don't like futuristicness in FFs. Midieval is fine and fun, but I also like technology advanced enoff for cool things. So long as they are behind the real worlds technology. FF7 wouldn't be good if there wasn't Shinra NO. 26, the Mako Cannon, or the Highwind. Or the Mako Reactors. So, for me, technology is needed. Many people say FF7 is the best FF and its one of the most technology advanced FFs. Still, there's nothing like Good Ol Fashion midieval style.

Would it surprise you if I said 5/10? I've only played through it once...so maybe that's the problem. There's a LOT that's good in the game though. Guess I'm spoiled by "better" (IMO) Final Fantasies out there.

Well done.

Anyway, I would give FFVIII around a 7.5-8/10. I love the setting of the game and the characters are generally likable even though they are incredible 2D. The story is pretty good, apart from the awful orphanage plot twist (what the FUCK. I mean, even the execution was terrible!) and the battle system is enjoyable, if easily abusable. Triple Triad was entertaining to some degree and you actually get some pretty decent rewards out of it.

Definitely on the top scale of FF games, probably around the FFVI mark.

I don't understand why it really matters. it's hard to explain why I don't like her. I don't hate the character. At first I thought she was really cute. But then she got on my nerves. She's bossy,vunerable and a pain in the ass. I realize that is how she was designed but I still don't like her.

FF8, I give it 10 by far. Beats all FF games! But I must say I was pretty disappointed with the end. I thought it could've shown more of Squall and Rinoa together.

I would give it an 8.5 as I find it too easy. The gameplay is good plus the story is to.

I hate the fact you have to get paid wages rather than enemies dropping gil and the fact its hard to get spells to do a lot of damage until you get your magic stat to 255 so I tend to just stock all my spells to make the character stronger.

Too true, I think the only time I actually casted spells was Aura on Squall in the final battle against Ulticimea and on Rinoa's limit break (cant remember what its called) but Rinoa chooses the magic that does strong damage.

I give VIII a perfect 10! It's just all around amazing, mostly because of the plot, I like a nice story about war, but I like midevil stories better, so I might end up liking XII better when I'm through with it. With the story of FFVIII it has just enough romanticism for me, not overly used, the realtionship between Squall and Rinoa may seem a little funny to some people, but I like it. My second reason is purely for Quistis, me and her a quite a lot alike. She's intelligent classy and skilled in combat. My final reason is the battle system, I enjoyed the Junction system, it had it's flaws,but it's still good. ViIi being my first FF I think it will always stand to be my favorite.

Does your game freeze on a fmv sequence?

My ff9 freezes on the third disc but I take the disc out and put it back in and it skips the fmv sequence.

My ff8 dont do it at all, but all the final fantasies from 7 upwards you can skip all the fmvs by taking the disc out and putting it back in.

You might be able to get your ff8 working again

This game ranks highly for its story I think.

I like rinoa as a heroine too. I also find it strange she is the only character who seems to get massive stat growths at level up compared to the other characters.

I’d probably give it 8.5/10. Number 8 was unique compared to most of ff’s other ideas. There was also plenty to do in FF8 and the game didn’t rely on you to win certain card battles (although it helped). It was certainly more difficult than other ff games (like ff9) and the story line was different in comparison to some of the previous final fantasies. But overall I was pretty impressed.

the characters,.. the remaining 0.7 goes to the
lack of voice.. if they have voice in the game,

id give it a 8.9 :) i think its pretty good and people just say its bad coz it isnt as incredible as some other ff's. but it still pwns alot of other games out there, ALOT.
