Our preliminaries will close out with two matches involving the four fiends. Known too well from their evil in FF1 and also appearing in FF9 (but with a much smaller part) these things mean business. They also appeared in FFTA as renamed monsters who were the leaders of the "Falgabirds."
Our first fiend match involves the Fiend of Fire and the Fiend of Water. Kary (or Maliris, to all you FF9 players) is a marilith with a bad attitude. Kraken is a Cthulu-esque creature who supposedly can be beaten by a one-armed squirrel.
Obviously, I'm going with Kary here. Before any of you start yelling "OMGF FNUFT MALIRIS HAS TEH ELLE B4 THE ARRRR, HOW CNA IT B MARLIHT!!!!!111!!one" keep in mind the following: A marilith is a real type of demon, found often in Dungeons and Dragons (I can't pinpoint which mythology, if any, it originates from) and in japanese the sound for "l" and "r" are the same. Often, video games have "r" where "l" should be and vice versa. This also explains where "Engrish" jokes come from. Hence, the word "Marilith" became "Maliris" in the translation process. That's also why I'd rather call her Kary to cut down on confusion.
Also, if ANYBODY on these boards seriously types like that example, I will shoot you on sight.
