Secret weapons

I have cleared final fantasy 5 like five times and I was wondering if anyone else has come across these two items:-

1. Brave blade
2. Chicken knife

Each time I play this game these two weapons have different attack power so I was wondering if anyone has any idea what gives these weapons their attributes

I have a theory that the brave blades base damage is based on how many battles you have fought, and for the chicken knife I think it may be based on how many battles you have run away from.

What do you guys think?

well, i've never actually finished the game but what you say sounds reasonable

Ok I did finish it a long time ago with gameshark, that was back when I was young and stupid :D But I don't count that one so

the chicken knifes damage increases from the number of battles you run away from
and the brave blades damage decreases from the number of battles you run away from

Thank you for clearing that up. I suspected it anyway.

Get the Chicken Knife. Then when you get the Ninja's !Smoke, you can keep running away from the monster where you get said knife if you want to go back. =D
