Does anhbody else think that FFX was better than X2?

Most deffinatly. Final Fantasy X is MUCH better then its sequel. my reasons are simply because IT IS a sequel, Final Fantasy is good the way it is i think. i mean, FFX-2 is still a great game but it wont go down as one of the greatest or 'classics' ever made. and another thing that bugged me was that Nobuo Uematsu didnt do the music for FFX-2, that guy is great with the FF's!

There, finally got my opinion down lol.

I'm with you...a sequel to a FF game? o.o
That's just wrong...besides, it was a disgrace!

It don't think it ever was Square Enix's intention to hope to make X-2 better than the originator :D

The original is almost always the best, especially due to the uniqueness factor. THe same is true here.

I did like FFX a lot better than X-2, but X-2 holds a place in my heart, because it is the first 3D ff I ever beat.

Totorosama
10-04-2005, 06:34 PM
Which means you've never beat any FF before VII. That's weird. Where have you been? Also, I don't see how putting on different costumes could give you abilities. The sphere grid and weapon system was much more logical. However, I have a problem with the both of them. That is, they're both really easy. Too easy. It's almost impossible to die, except in a boss battle.

Of course it was, FF X-2 is crap. The only good thing about it is it's unique battle system, I mean the final Boss is easy, I defeated him on my first try.

i think the only thing that appealed to me from ffx-2 was the fast paced battle system ...and as you say avathar.. the graphics were good... thats it tho .. other than that it sux.

I liked FFX-2 and i enjoyed it alot.. its a nice easy going game thats fun! :) But i would have to agree that FFX is much better.. mainly because of its story :)

Lokzor
04-25-2006, 07:15 PM
I recieved it as a gift from my girlfriend, and I played it mainly to continue the FFX story, though I agree the original was far better. I have to say I was expecting to be disappointed with X-2, since I KNEW my favorite character from the original wouldn't come back.

The main thing I didn't like about it was the story. I was hoping it would be more connected to the original game. Some of the music also annoyed me. I did like the jobclass system though, a refreshing change from FFX.

To be honest, X-2 was the "Charlie's Angels" of final fantasy

I agree with your assertions mostly!FFX-2 could never be as good as its predessesor.First of all,the time spent to make ffx2 wasn't as long as that of making ffx.FFX-2 has to deal with Mr.Uematsu's resignation from square. Thus, the music score creators have to 'battle' with the famous, succeeded and classic composer of the first 10 titles. The score,in my opinion,of ffx-2 is generally stupid. And I am sorry to say that.Nonetheless,it has some masterpieces like ''Eternity'' or ''Wind's Crest~The three trails'',but generally it just doesn't stand a chance before ffx.Nope it does not.The story was lame, and too girlish.I clearly prefer ffx's ending rather than ffx-2's one. Why?Because ffx's eding offered me such emotion and let me imagine of the end myself. Some things are better when left to the player's imagination imo.FFX-2 ruined that.It also broke the tradition....One of the few good thing are the girls' hot garments...

edit:there was going to be an ffx-3 (Rikku's edition) too.........

well, i don't think ffx was a hard as ffx2 b/c of one thing and that was tryin to get 100% in the game..... ffx was better but that is b/c ffx2 was more of a girls flick then anythin else.... FFx is better to me!

X > X-2.

I did like the battle system of X-2, but the whole little Charlie's Angels atmosphere kept me from taking it seriously.

That, and stupid 100% ending you ruined X's ending grr.

Hydra

Meh....I liked FFX-2 for the....I'll say CHARACTERS and battle mode. Forces you to think on your feet, and do commands that might cost you later. So, it's a bit fun trying to make fast strategys. Still, FFX is better. For the story, characters, and all around gameplay. :D

Let's see which game is better than the other, like this :p :

1. Better Music: FFX

2. Better Graphics: FFX-2

3. Better Story: FFX

4. Better Random Gameplay: FFX

5. Better Secrets and Sidequests: FFX

6. Better Characters: FFX

7. Better World in time and place: FFX

8. Better Battle Gameplay: FFX-2

9. Better Challenge: FFX

10. Better Humor: FFX

=
X > X-2.

I must say that I agree with the majority here. X was MUCH better than X-2. The whole plot was off. They should have just made a new installment instead of continuing it where the first one left off IMO. Although I did like the ending...especially the 100% ending!

Hydra
06-05-2006, 06:13 PM
Yes, it is pretty rewarding to get the 100% ending, when they get back together after all that.

Zeromus_X
06-05-2006, 06:16 PM
I hated the 100% Ending. It ruined X's ending. There wasn't a point to X that way. (This is just me though.) X had a bittersweet ending, and I liked that.

Of course, the 'failure' ending is funny. xD

Hydra
06-05-2006, 06:22 PM

i just think FFX's storyline can't be compared to any other RPG's. The story was given to you but it left so much for you to gather. If you didn't pay attention then it was like you missed out on smaller aspects that made it come together nicely. and i thought it was awesome ho they fit that whole story into that short of a span

For me if there was some stronger enemies on ffx 2 other than the bevelle dungeon I would rate it just as highly as the original game. Sometimes you get fed up just holding down the x button and letting your characters wallop your enemies to smithereens.

Ummm...but aren't they really the same game...more of a continuation from X than a sequel IMO. The enemies and the more exporable world itself was somewhat impressive in X-2. I just didn't appreciate the dressphere/job abilities. But that's just muah!

In certain ways, yes, X was better. But in other ways i thought X-2 was better.

Maybe more people would like if they were a bit more open minded about rpgs.

I will say, challenge wise, i thought X-2 was alot more challenging than X. It was mainly that aspect that makes me pick X-2 over X.

ffx en ffx-2 are both good in it's own way, ffx could use more side quests and stuff, and ffx-2 has too much side quests. and the story line isn't really good, but the sound effects and stuff are pretty good. ffx's story line kicks some major asses.

so i like both games. (ffx is still better though XD)

Thats an interesting opinion. I think the enemies of ffx2 are way too easy to defeat. I can think of a few exceptions like shaq, trema and paragon. But they too can become over come with catnip and trigger happy.

yeah i suppose you are right. But three dark knights with high defence and all the abilities of the dark knight learned can easily put a stop to trema.

My earlier post with the exceptions of angra mainyu, trema, paragon, shaq I still think the enemies in general are too easy.

Try it using nothing but the warrior dressphere and see how long it takes you to get pissed off.

I played through both games a few times, and it's really a toss-up for which I prefer more. FFX is more tolerable -- it's got half-decent characters, but a bland/linear story peppered with way more interesting sidequests; FFX-2 on the other hand has a nuanced battle/job system, but the fractured mission-based plot and overally "giggly" tone of everything makes it seem like a Charlie's Angels knockoff. FFX has got the most run-throughs, so I guess that's the poison I've picked the most.

That's because the game is nothing but mini-games with an RPG battle system throw into the mix.

Shotgunnova
03-04-2007, 05:36 AM
That's half of it. Making things optional and mission-based really gives those 'events' a mini-game feel, which only adds to the often comical tone of everything. The only bone I have to pick with the battle system is that some abilities get too samey -- I'm a status effect junkie, but the overlap in some cases detracted from the job-system experience.

I think that ffx-2 is beautifully presented though. Its a shame they dropped alot of the features of the original game e.g customizing armour.
