"Mario doesn't blow up power plants" Bush said on thursday.

Bush forgot to mention that Mario is filled with drug metaphors. Eating mushrooms to get bigger, anyone?

"First Grand Theft Auto, and now this. I'm starting to think we should just ban all video games. Final Fantasy VII is an awful game, and should have never been created in the first place. I mean, look at the size of Tifa's breasts! They're destroying our childrens future. The problem of explicit video games is spiraling out of control." Clinton wrote in a letter to the head of the Federal Trade Commission. Tifa's breasts were unavailible for comment.

Immature jokes aside, this has to be one of the most asinine comments I've ever read. In the words of anyone who knows what they're talking about:

"A video game company which makes video games that are intended for people seventeen years and older has some code which allows a pornographic scene to be viewed if hacked and voiding any responsibility the video game company has. Now that we've cracked down on recent video games, we're going to turn our attention to subjects that we were fine with eight years ago but now offend us because we think that popular things are awful and never should have been made. Our new excuse is that this is destroying the future of our children even though we probably played these games a few times and enjoyed them thoroughly. In conclusion, this anti-Tifa movement is just our first move towards banning characters of any creed, sex, religion, race, etc. from video games forever."

If you ask me, the best part is that they had no problems back in '97, and parents think they can blame video games for their own negligence. I hate politicians. Finally, I leave you with the words of the great Maddox.

God bless Hillary Clinton for allocating tax money to have federal regulators investigate "the source of this content," because if she hadn't, consumers might have to go through the trouble of reading the label on the cover of the box.

I apologize in advance for the use of a certain s-word, but is this sh*t for real? I'm so glad I don't live in the US..

EDIT#1: I've checked the FF7 message board at www.gamefaqs.com, and everyone there seems convinced that the article is just a lame joke.. that it's fake.

EDIT#2: Actually, it should be fairly obvious that it's a fake. Some of the comments in the article are just too stupid to be put in a real article, and if you look at all the links in the left menu they link to the real CNN site - that is, http://cnn.com - and this article has the url http://auritribe.net/cnn/. *slaps forehead for believing it at first*

I agree with Shadowheart, especially after putting the link in and deleting the cnn bit.

Take a look (http://auritribe.net).

I thought this was rubbish as I read it. How can a nation ban a game thats been around for years and prob has tens of thousands (if not more) of distributed copies around the country. How would they enforce such a ban? Have the police raid every home ransacking it for a video game? :D

I think the "comments" made by various people in that so called "news" article should be taken with a grain of salt as well.

You mean you didn't figure it out by the random child pornography mention. Not even the "Mario was unavailible for comment." ?

Oy ...

It was more the "Tifa's breasts were unavailable for comment" that clinched it as a joke for me :D.

Yeah that, and that Mario was unavailable for comment..

Some of the comments in the article are just too stupid to be put in a real article

Still, I'm a very gullible person in general, so I'm not that surprised I fell for it at first.. feels stupid now though :)

You do realise that story is a hoax and I very much doubt Hilary Clinton said any of what was reported, any more than any of the other people quoted did .

It was banned because of Tifa's Ballon Breasts.

No way they just can't ban a game cause of that. That is just plain out stupid. Besides, let them ban it because I already have the game and they can't take it away from me. No matter what you'll always be able to find it on ebay no matter what lol. But, I still think its stupid that they would ban that game. It was probably just a hoax.

You had me going there until i looked at the links. Hilary Clinton, blaming liberal or evil consperator? Anywho i don't think they could possibly ban a video game. They could just make it's rating matuer, for adults only, like that ever stops anyone. FF7 ROCKS. :D

I knew it was a fake from the moment I read it, not only because of the "so and so isn't available for comment" but the fact that it was Hilary Clinton. Though I don't like her, I don't think she'd waste her time on something like that. She's got more important things to do like, making sure her husband isn't in anyone else's pants.

That is stupid. I love hearing dumb stuff that people come up with. I don't like Hilary either. I think she is a waste of time.
