I'm not sure if I'm late to the party, but I was surfing PSN and it says for $9.99, you can download FFVIII straight to your PSP or PS3. However, 1.73 GB is required.

If I only had the moneyyyy!

clief101_
01-12-2010, 04:33 AM

TherathxRikku
01-13-2010, 05:29 AM
@Rissole, j00 needz a PSN card, 20 American dollarz for it. :p

clief101_
01-13-2010, 05:35 AM
PSN card?? whats that? u mean a bigger memory card for the PSP??

TherathxRikku
01-13-2010, 10:37 AM
It's basically a gift card for the PSN Store.

clief101_
01-15-2010, 10:59 AM
oh ok....i didnt know they existed? do we even have them over here??

rissole25
01-16-2010, 08:11 AM
We'd probably have to order them online and get them shipped out to us.

clief101_
01-16-2010, 09:19 AM
stingy american's get everything.....no offence therath XD

TherathxRikku
01-16-2010, 11:57 AM
None taken, but Japan get WAAAAAY more than us, we just got burgers. :p

rissole25
01-16-2010, 11:59 AM
And they get it like a year before us as well.

clief101_
01-16-2010, 12:16 PM
but we get more stuff in games....like dark aeons!!!

rissole25
01-17-2010, 02:16 AM
Yea but we might get some things nerfed as well.

clief101_
01-17-2010, 03:12 AM
yeh, but they would only do that if it wasnt very good

TherathxRikku
01-17-2010, 11:30 AM
but we get more stuff in games....like dark aeons!!!

Correction, YOU got that. T-T

clief101_
01-19-2010, 10:23 AM
yea, me and rissole....and the rest of Aussie XD

TherathxRikku
01-19-2010, 09:30 PM
stingy american's get everything...

So this is now irrelevant. xD

rissole25
01-20-2010, 03:16 AM
Haha I'd close it now Therath before we post some more off-topic stuff

clief101_
01-20-2010, 06:32 AM
it maybe....well u get everything 1st, like FFVIII on PSN....we dont have it yet....notice the shift back on topic?? XD

rissole25
01-20-2010, 08:05 AM
Oh it'll get off-topic soon enough.

I thought I saw FFVIII on PSN last week?

clief101_
01-20-2010, 08:18 AM
perhaps?? im not sure? wen i looked it wasnt in there....perhaps u saw VII??

rissole25
01-20-2010, 08:21 AM
Oh...that coulda been it

clief101_
01-20-2010, 08:23 AM
maybe? ill take a look....eventualy

Leon
01-20-2010, 04:44 PM
AHEM..
(since when did joo 2 get so carefull bout stayin on topic ya random numpties)

so is there anything new different this time or is it like teh other ones? 0.0

TherathxRikku
01-20-2010, 07:52 PM
It should be like the VII download, it has the whole game including mini games and side quests, although the data, like VII is a lot to take up, and a memory stick with even one whole GB is kinda expensive, not to mention, there isn't much room on the MS for other games, I only had 120 MB left when I downloaded VII.

clief101_
01-21-2010, 12:09 PM
@leon haha, we dont wana get in trouble by u mods!!

and its the exact same game, just now u can play it without scratches ruining it!! and on the PS3

TherathxRikku
01-21-2010, 08:15 PM
Or PSP. :p

@Leon, I'm careful, I just lose track sometimes. .___.

clief101_
01-22-2010, 12:59 AM
dont we all :)

and yes also on the PSP if u have the memory for it

rissole25
01-22-2010, 08:40 AM
So can you just move VII onto the computer if you want room on your memory card and then just put it back on your memory card when you feel like playing?

clief101_
01-22-2010, 08:55 AM
mmm...i suppose you could do that? although i dont know if the file would lose some things in the transfer?

TherathxRikku
01-23-2010, 12:10 AM
Yeah, but it's be a pain to put it back over and over again. Not to mention, if you go over the MB limit, you'd have to remove it to put it back on.

clief101_
01-23-2010, 04:11 AM
itd be easier getting a new memory stick...or buying a PS3

TherathxRikku
01-23-2010, 08:56 PM
lol, Memory Sticks are a tad cheaper.

clief101_
01-24-2010, 02:26 AM
they r true. but a PS3 is worth it XD

TherathxRikku
01-26-2010, 08:42 PM
I know, XIII comes out in a month in NA. T-T

clief101_
01-27-2010, 10:36 AM
i think they releasing it at the same time over here? i thought it was guna be april

TherathxRikku
01-30-2010, 10:48 AM
March 10 for us. I still can't play it, though. >_>

clief101_
01-31-2010, 11:11 AM
haha, u dun have a PS3....i shall have to find out wen it released ova here

TherathxRikku
01-31-2010, 06:19 PM
And the friends I have that do have PS3s have no interest in buying one.

rissole25
02-01-2010, 03:26 AM
It's alright Therath...I don't have a PS3 yet I want the game, but my friends have PS3's but they HATE anything with Final Fantasy in it.

TherathxRikku
02-01-2010, 09:15 AM
Crazy people...

clief101_
02-02-2010, 05:53 AM
wat kind of friends do u have? OMG!!

TherathxRikku
02-02-2010, 10:01 AM
Deprived, Madden geeks.

So, is anyone saving up for the thing?

clief101_
02-02-2010, 10:19 AM
i could get it now if i wanted to

rissole25
02-03-2010, 04:30 AM
I could get it if I begged my parents. But I'm not that desperate to get it straight away.

Haha and Clief? They're into Resident Evil games and shooting games like COD. They just think that the whole series is stupid and they don't like the battle system. One of my friends even borrowed FFX and as soon as got to walk around he didn't like it because of where the camera was. He likes games where you can move the camera around.

clief101_
02-03-2010, 05:11 AM
well, i like COD (i play MW2 on xbox live) and i still love this game. tell the they stupid lol....or at least silly

Seyluv
02-03-2010, 12:30 PM
I still have my FF8, lol

Sometimes play still :3

clief101_
02-03-2010, 11:45 PM
so do i, but it freezes wen i try and go into the basement and fight NORG

rissole25
02-04-2010, 04:15 AM
Lol at NORG.

I want to play it and finish the game but I have so many things to do. I'll probably start a new save someday and follow xAshe10x's guide.

clief101_
02-04-2010, 10:12 AM
haha, it takes like....5 hrs to do the missile launch FMV

rissole25
02-05-2010, 03:49 AM
Haha did you have Rinoa in your Balamb party? Or was she in the missile base party? Cos with Rinoa there's an extra FMV with her at Balamb garden when its flying. Apparently that FMV can sometimes freeze the game.

clief101_
02-05-2010, 05:07 AM
shes in my balamb party

TherathxRikku
02-05-2010, 09:32 AM
@Rissole, I kinda have to agree with your friend, Resident Evil is f-ing addicting and FFX's camera was annoying...but COD???!!! I've yet to meet a gamer (who is obsessed with Final Fantasy), who isn't obsessed with COD.

clief101_
02-05-2010, 09:39 AM
haha, i am obsessed with both XD

TherathxRikku
02-05-2010, 09:50 AM
I hate COD, with a passion. It's one of those things that are too popular for unknown reasons.

I think I wanna save up for this, I'm not updating my PSP until I get it, I already have enough for it, I just need a new Memory Stick DUO. -_-

clief101_
02-05-2010, 09:52 AM
i love it, its all i play atm...that and FFIV

i need my downloads back to able to get it

rissole25
02-05-2010, 11:18 PM
I was thinking of putting IX on my PSP by downloading the ISO for it but I don't wanna download Custom Firmware.

TherathxRikku
02-05-2010, 11:32 PM
I agree, rissole, I tried getting custom firmware, but there are so many ways, I'm not sure which one works. >_>

rissole25
02-05-2010, 11:56 PM
There's even a way to put your PS1 games onto the PSP. You have to burn them or something with a special program. I still think you'd need CF though. But I was thinking that the buttons would be weird. I mean cos you have L1, L2, R1, R2 and two analog sticks on a PS1 remote but on a PSP you only have L, R and one analog stick. What if you needed to use all those buttons to play the game?

It'd probably be better to just get it off the PSN store.

clief101_
02-06-2010, 06:34 AM
in most PS1 games, u almost never use the right analog stick (thats even if ur controller had them) or the R-L2 buttons

rissole25
02-07-2010, 07:42 AM
True about the right analog stick. But you need R2 and L2 to run away from battles in PS1 FF's. I suppose just L and R would work for that.

clief101_
02-07-2010, 08:12 AM
well, actually, only ff8 u need R-L2 to run away, in the other its R-L1...but yeh, it could jus be used as L and R

TherathxRikku
02-07-2010, 11:15 PM
In VII, on the PSP, you use the shoulder buttons for camera control and escaping battles, also for scrolling through menu options. They might mix together. :p

clief101_
02-08-2010, 03:34 AM
in VII u never used R-L2 buttons....the only FF to do that was VIII and that was for escaping only...only because of squall's gunblade, ud have to (well u dont have to, only if u want extra dammage) press R1 at the right time to get the gun to shoot....or cause the vibrations up through the blade

TherathxRikku
02-08-2010, 10:13 AM
Oh, well, I haven't played the original VII in years, never played VIII, though I really should...

clief101_
02-09-2010, 05:03 AM
ha, so yeh...R-L2 buttons r pretty much useless in FF's

TherathxRikku
02-09-2010, 10:46 AM
In X, they're used to scroll through the battle order.

clief101_
02-10-2010, 06:18 AM
yes, but u dont realy need to look at that...u can kinda plan ur next 3-5 moves, if u need to plan more than that its either a big boss, or ur not very confident in ur abilities to play...because even if u have a plan, it will always change due to the enemies attacks

rissole25
02-11-2010, 03:40 AM
I think I like X's battle system the best out of all of the Final Fantasy's. And the Summon system as well. I think they should use the Summon system they used in X in new FF's.

clief101_
02-11-2010, 04:40 AM
i did like the battle system in X aswell. it was very balanced, and i LOVED the sphere grid

TherathxRikku
02-11-2010, 07:06 PM
You're first person I've ever heard say that, clief. O_O BROTHER!!! *glomps*

If X came out for the PSP, I'd play it more than Dissidia, I can tell you that right now.

rissole25
02-12-2010, 10:30 AM
You know you could probably get an unofficial version of it anyway. But I wouldn't cos I don't want to download all this stuff just to get one game I like onto my psp.

TherathxRikku
02-12-2010, 09:50 PM
It would also probably be too much data for my Memory Stick.

clief101_
02-14-2010, 09:08 AM
i must say, that the sphere grid was the best leveling system in FF....the license board was a cheap and CRAP imitation of it

TherathxRikku
02-15-2010, 07:16 AM
I actually think the License Board had potential, what drove me insane was just leveling up on XII. >_>

clief101_
02-16-2010, 11:53 AM
lvling was easy....but i didnt like the license board. espers were absolute rubbish!!!

TherathxRikku
02-16-2010, 08:10 PM
Can't argue with you, seeing as I only got far enough for one Esper. >_>

clief101_
02-17-2010, 10:29 AM
they were useless....some of them u needed the dumbest circumstance to use its limit....like being immoble...and they suck anyway

Leon
02-19-2010, 07:15 PM
espers.. o.O

license board? >.<

this
is
AAAAAAA-yt O_O#

n how come they never made any pre/sequels to it; it was the best evar!

clief101_
02-20-2010, 03:34 AM
there r another 2 games of XII on dif platforms but dif stories....like XIII has

TherathxRikku
02-21-2010, 04:08 AM
2? I only heard of Revenant Wings.

clief101_
02-21-2010, 12:14 PM
im pretty sure there r 2?? i shall look it up 4 ya's....wen i have the time to that is lol

TherathxRikku
02-23-2010, 09:45 PM
Uh-huh...

Anybody else here beaten VIII? I've only had the pleasure of playing it for five minutes, I had a couple chances too. Once was cause I got grounded directly after firing it up, and the second was cause I had a shoddy disc. >_>

rissole25
02-24-2010, 08:20 AM
I haven't actually beaten it. I couldn't beat 1st battle with Ultimecia because my characters kept getting absorbed into time.

Even if I got past the first battle, I wouldn't have beaten her. You have to battle her 4 times in a row I think (Well its 4 if you count Griever as her), everytime stronger and in a different form.

TherathxRikku
02-24-2010, 10:33 AM
Basically Yunalesca? Ow...

clief101_
02-25-2010, 03:55 AM
i got to ultimecias castle, so technically no i havnt either...and she gets ALOT harder as it goes on...the last fight is almost impossible...if ur a basic player..

rissole25
02-25-2010, 05:11 AM
The battle system is weird though in VIII. Like your level determines the enemy's levels. And they drop different items and have more attacks when your a higher level, so power-leveling at the start won't really do any good I think.

clief101_
02-25-2010, 05:16 AM
there is no point to power lvl'ing...infact, DONT do it. i DONT want to be lvl 100...omega weapon starts his fight with lvl 5 death...no matter wat u do, its always the first attack

TherathxRikku
02-25-2010, 10:22 AM
Oh my...at least it's better than II, where you can't even tell what level you are.

rissole25
02-26-2010, 03:44 AM
That game had a broken system. In every battle you could just get your stats up by attacking yourself, then healing yourself.

Example.

On the NES version, You select Firion to attack with Fire. It's now Maria's turn. You now cancel it so it's Firion's turn to select a command. You keep doing that over and over again, with him selecting Fire, until you get bored so you now finish the battle with normal attacks. It says that you leveled Fire.

That's because every time you chose Fire, it added experience to the spell but didn't take that experience away when you canceled it. They've changed that in future versions. But imagine that. You could level up 16 spells up to LV 16 in 16 battles.

TherathxRikku
02-26-2010, 07:27 PM
Yup, my friend showed me and I could only just stare at it...

clief101_
02-26-2010, 11:28 PM
ppl that do that only ruin the game for themselves though

TherathxRikku
03-01-2010, 08:40 AM
Meh, I usually play the game to watch the scenes and find out what happened in the story, the gameplay is what bugs me.

rissole25
03-02-2010, 05:26 AM
They were probably just testing what it would be like if there were no levels since FFI had levels. And I guess it wasn't a success, which is why they put levels back in FFIII.

clief101_
03-02-2010, 09:56 AM
thats proly true. square is always testing something new in every installment.

i still stick by the lvling system though..

Leon
03-02-2010, 02:38 PM
i thought the fighting was kind of balanced in 8 coz no matter what you can never increase the power gap between you and the monsters past a certain limit (since they lvl up with you n learn better attacks too) and at that limit you can still get beaten unexpectedly at anytime

TherathxRikku
03-02-2010, 04:57 PM
I wanna play VIII so bad. Not only is it romantic, but it's confusing!!!

rissole25
03-03-2010, 03:37 AM
You should just get it off the PSN or find a website that lets you download free psp games.

TherathxRikku
03-03-2010, 09:17 AM
I'll get it soon, I'm applying for a fast food joint, temporarily, of course...

clief101_
03-04-2010, 11:37 AM
i didnt like the junction system...not coz i couldnt use it, but i just dont like the idea of it...lvl's were basically made to be useless

TherathxRikku
03-04-2010, 07:45 PM
It's still beatable, though, right?

Leon
03-05-2010, 05:18 PM
it is, but he has a point

regardless of your level you could still get obliterated
it's just that @ high lvls it happens its chances of happening are bigger..z

TherathxRikku
03-06-2010, 12:14 AM
So level 99 is like Proud Mode from KHII? Still beatable, yet fun in every way?

Leon
03-06-2010, 06:11 AM
errr.. no, cause there are monsters like torama (i think that was its name, the one that looks like a tiger with long whiskers) and some others that have LV? death.

i think higher levels are more fun cause its harder and you find yourself facing a large variety of variables that affect the fights. that n the fact that you know that u could still get pwned at any given time (more often than the low levels)

besides, LV death is only one of countless 1-hit-ko attacks; don't remember well enough, but i think having status-df of death 100% stops it.

rissole25
03-07-2010, 09:55 AM
You could always junction Stop or Death to your attack, although most of the monsters would probably be immune to it.

TherathxRikku
03-07-2010, 08:55 PM
Sounds like a party. :D

clief101_
03-09-2010, 12:08 PM
i still dont like the junction system

TherathxRikku
03-09-2010, 08:56 PM
I never usually like something til I try it, like guarding in Dissidia, now it's my trump card. :D

clief101_
03-10-2010, 10:19 AM
haha, its very helpful!! if u time it right

TherathxRikku
03-10-2010, 11:09 PM
Yup, I'm kind of curious as to how anyone's beaten it with such a wacked up system...

clief101_
03-11-2010, 10:30 AM
wat do u mean?

TherathxRikku
03-11-2010, 11:00 AM
Gets harder every time you level up, that almost presses you to shout, "A LEVEL UP????!! NAAAOAOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"

clief101_
03-11-2010, 11:13 AM
ino, i hate it

rissole25
03-12-2010, 04:21 AM
Atleast its a challenge still. If you power-level in any FF you can own all the bosses easy while in FF8, they still become a challenge.

clief101_
03-14-2010, 07:02 AM
that is true...but u should have thhe option of power lvln

TherathxRikku
03-15-2010, 04:25 PM
So nothing makes a boss easier, you only beat FFVIII by being really lucky and godly skillful.

rissole25
03-17-2010, 04:49 AM
Well. Some bosses are easy. You've just got to junction the right magic when fighting them.

TherathxRikku
03-17-2010, 04:29 PM
I'll get a walkthrough to be safe.

Leon
03-19-2010, 05:40 PM
well as long as this is bout 8, might as wel make a general topic instead of tha long gone question in the first page;

..u guyz oughta try playin in defensive mode, u'd be surprised how well you'd hold up against most kinds of monsters n bosses

jus change ur junction priorities n try it :p

rissole25
03-21-2010, 05:15 AM
So junction Ultima to defense instead of strength?

Gumdrop
03-21-2010, 08:07 AM
I think I used to put Ultima under my ST-A/D because then with enough of other spells you can absorb magics. Thing with 8 though is a lot of bosses carry their own weakness to be drawn or at least something that will help you out tons so its never that hard.

Leon
03-22-2010, 09:57 AM
hands down that the bosses with the constant lvls are the easier ones, unlike some others who match your level no matter how high it gets; in a way it makes sense to vary between both cases (some fights are easy if you've trained hard enough, but some are still tough no matter what) yet the ones with the constant lvls keep havin higher lvls as you get through each one so they get tougher too til teh end eventually

an i never was able to get 100 ultimas, but i always junctioned it to stat def; i had great other substitutes for strength (like triple.. i think). don't remember ultima's exact effect but it was HUGE, and affected all elements; so with a little flare and stuff you'd do great against elemental attacks ;)

besides, str was never an issue to me cause i always had tactics either by magic (zombie->cure) status (playin wit stop, death, slow, etc..) or even regular stats with meltdown (on them) and mad rush (secret tip: berserk increases strength ;P); i even got some weaker tactics that involve (pain + haste) and so.. hehe m not an amateur anymorez :)

rissole25
03-23-2010, 04:38 AM
Hehe I got 100 Ultima's very easy by the time I had the Ragnorak. I just kept going to the islands closest to heaven and hell and there's about 3 Hidden Ultima Draw points on each island. Also the earliest you can get it I think is in Mayor Dobes house upstairs in FH

TherathxRikku
03-30-2010, 10:56 PM
I use the same strategy I use in any other game, no tactics, just try to win with strength, with exception for X, because I know the simplest way to kill everything. lol

Gumdrop
03-31-2010, 07:05 AM
That won't work past a certain point on FFXIII I'm afraid..:p

TherathxRikku
03-31-2010, 09:35 AM
Working so far in VII. Although I like to spam Summons a lot. lol But I'm actually planning on some tactics for when I play XIII, still watching clips of the battle system, learning little by little.

Gumdrop
03-31-2010, 11:06 AM
It would do in VII. VII-XII are really easy games. :p Found XIII easy enough second time through, but then I remembered all the strategies from the first time through. Sticking with the Fang/Light/Hope team seems to make life much easier also.

TherathxRikku

XII wasn't even worth beating, I hear, I gave up barely a chunk of the way through cause of the stupid battle system. About to give up on VII just cause it isn't the "SUPER, SPECIAL, AWESOME" game I thought it was gonna be, Cloud's still depressing...

Back on topic, anybody have any suggestions for which characters to keep in your party, in VII, I always kept it Cloud, Red XIII, and Barret/Cid.

VII will probably just disappoint anybody new to it now I suspect since its had the shit over-hyped out of it. Twas amazing back in the day, but now its old and creaky and it shows sadly.
Cloud doesn't even have a personality in the game, they didn't give him one so people would superimpose their own onto him. In the film hes an annoying miserable lump for a lot of it though which sucked. In the game shitty things happen to him and he seems to just get over them, or not even really care. Aeris is hardly even mentioned again and she was his main love interest, I think he cared more in the film about it, but that was two years later when he apparently grew a personality of sorts.

Doesn't matter too much with VII, but I tend to go for Yuffie and Red. Yuffie's auto big hits with Morph are handy and both seem to start doing 9999 dmg before the others.

Well you have to have Squall in your party since he is the main character :D. Um...I'll describe their Limit Breaks.

Squall's is Renzokuken (something like that). Press the trigger button when the blue bars pass. If you get them all, he will use a special attack, depending on his current weapon equipped (Rough Divide, Lion Heart. etc)

Rinoa has 2 Limit Breaks. One is using Angelo (Her dog). Angelo has a number of powers he can use, that may damage the enemy, make party invincible. etc.
Her second one is Angel Wing (Something like that). You get it in the middle of disc 3. You can't control her but she randomly casts high level spells.

Zell's is Duel. A list comes up at the bottom of the screen, showing key combos which you have to press in the right order to trigger his moves and hit the enemy. His Limit Break lasts for a certain time (10 secs I think but it freezes when he you have entered the combo)

Example:
Punch Rush: O X
Booya: Right, Left

Doing one will use that attack and stop the timer. When that attack is being shown, another list will come up showing different attacks, with timer counting down. If the combo you enter is a flashing one, the Limit Break will end, regardless of the time.

Quistis's Limit Break is Blue Magic. Basically it's Kimarhi's overdrive from FFX, learning enemy skills.

Irvine's is Shot. You need to have Ammo in your inventory to perform it. Basically you press the trigger button quickly to shoot at the enemy. You can perform different attacks depending on your ammo.

Finally, Selphie's is Slot. A small box comes up with a spell in it. If you don't like what you get, just choose the next one. In some cases, the spells will even be cast more than once. The catch is the battle still runs so you need to be quick. She also has special spells depending on her weapon (I think)

FullCure - Restores the party's HP to full
Wall - Casts Shell and Protect on all party members.
Rapture - Puts wings on the enemy and removes them from battle fleeing.
THE END - The screen turns into the green field (Like what Rinoa is standing on in the intro movie) and the words "THE END" appear- and you won the fight. Works on Bosses :D

Well...usually people have Zell in there party because of his Limit Break. Then the next most used would be Irvine. I'm doing one at the moment with Quistis and Rinoa.

Hahaha..omg :p I need to wake up.

I think I liked to have Irvine and Zell because both are heavy hitters, but it was a long ass time since I played.
