There is way too much spam appearing on this fourm.

For those who aren't sure exactly what spam is: they are short and/or nonsense and/or un-necessary and/or chit chat and/or silly threads/posts that contribute nothing to the thread they appear in, are mostly off topic and aren't worth the time another member takes to read them. I don't want to see anymore posts made up of one or two words that adds nothing new to the discussion and are posted just for the sake of posting. Threads about smilies, where the posts are mostly made up of smilies is called smilie spam, and is also not allowed.

If you feel the need to chat, I don't mind it in the bar thread in the off topic forum, but thats the only thread you will get away with it in. If you want to ask another member questions unrelated to the thread you are posting in please use the private messenging system, or an instant messenger like MSN.

All these posts of one or two words and nonsense posts are spam and will be deleted as I find them. If this doesn't stop now, I will start handing out warnings.

besides just being unneccessary, spam may make other people not want to participate in a thread, and makes the thread/forum look unprofessional. (eh...you know what i mean?)

at least, thats always why i thought spam was so bad for. there are other reasons i probably didn't think of right now...

Well it can be rather annoying but sometimes one word answers are all you need. Saying more can just sound stupid. Not that spam is good.

SPAM is useful i agree but sometimes you dont wanna sit here pouring your heart out because you have to fill at least a sentence..........i hope thats long enough???

Thats fine cause its productive to the thread. Just so long as its not short and has to do with the thread I think its fine. I think.

Bumped means posting just to push a thread up to the top of the forum, so its name will show on the main forum page. It's something admins and mods can get away with, if necessary.

Thats what I meant by "bumped for visibility". I wanted this threads name on the main page so people would see it and read my post :).

Tiny Bronco, it's not just that they are short, but that they are off-topic. If a one-word answer is enough to anwer someone's question in a thread and it's on topic, then of course you don't have to type a 500 page essay about it.

EDIT: Here's a good example..

This (http://www.ffnet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=13376&posted=1) thread. The two posts by Squall Lionheart in there saying "...plan...." and especially "Whatever...." are perfect examples of what she meant. The post by Tiny Bronco "Mwhahahahahahahahah!!! Final Fantasy!!!!!!!!" also falls into the same category, despite being 3 words.

Yeah, sometimes I have alot to talk about a certain topic(s) so I don't have to worry about being too short.

I'm bumping this because the amount of spam increased in the space of a couple days. (See threads like 'Picture Thread', 'Conker's Bad Fur Day', and 'The FFNet Bar'.

Guys, the forums aren't a chat room. You aren't supposed to just post rampantly without actually being on-topic. The threads I mentioned were at barely a few pages and now have grown to past ten. 'Conker's Bad Fur Day' was made yesterday and has over 150 posts. This is ridiculous.

I suggest everyone read this thread, the links provided, and if all else fails re-read the forum rules, because it isn't too hard to know what spam is and not to post it.
