Here's the thing about a forum. The Final Fantasy universe is huge, but not as huge as other games with its own universe. I think its possible to revive it to the state it once was, but a lot of work will need to be put into it. Today's gameplay is all about social play, the ability to compete against others. Final Fantasy is just the opposite of that with non-sequitor releases with finite gameplay. We've always had an enthusiastic fan-fic section, but that is an even smaller demographic for the FF Universe. The key will be appealing all players, both casual and hardcore, love the gameplay and love the story.

Hey dark.

Yeah, i know what you mean, it's just getting some people here is the hard thing. If we can get a few people here to just spread the word about the forum, then people will eventually start rolling in

Re: Need a Pheonix Down?

That's exactly what I'm getting at. I have a lot of friends that are interested in the FF universe. As a matter of fact, one of them just finished playing I - IV. But none of them are interested in a FF forum, much less a forum about any of their interests.

It seems as if the Internet ages, communities only exist when there is enough new information to keep the cogs turning. Call of Duty gets a new release about every year; Mac and Windows are constantly pushing new OS versions, patches and hotfixes; theology is and will always be a hot-button topic until there is reputable, concrete evidence that God exists. The common factor with all of these is that there is enough interest in its existing community as well as enough interest for those who know nothing but are interested in learn about the subject.

Once upon a time, FF used to release nearly yearly. Recently, the core RPG games have been released with 2 - 3 years between. It also seems like the focus is moving towards their MMO - which I think would work for a forum as a main concept with the others included as an after thought.

TL;DR. To survive, this forum is going to need a concept with enough information existing and developing to continue strong. Otherwise, the numbers will always be small and dwindle here and there.
