RPG Hack - Users Guide

FFnet RPG

Getting Started

The very first thing you have to do is post 10 threads/posts on the forum (after reading the rules of course ;)) to open up the RPG.

Next, you need to start a character. You will automatically get a default character that you can look at by clicking on the “review extended RPG stats link in any of your posts. If you want to choose a character of your own, go to the upper right menu bar of the forum and click on “RPG” then “headquarters”. Choose a name (can be any name, you don’t have to use your forum nick), then the attributes you want from the choices available. Check the box for “update character”, then save changes.

You can go back and change any of your choices at any time. Just remember to always “update character” to make your changes take effect.

Clicking “RPG” then Control Panel” will give you an overview of your character and his/her stats, results of battles, items owned ect.

Battle

Important Tips:
It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you use some form of instant messaging between yourself and your opponent when in battle. This can speed up the process drastically.

Q: How do I start a battle?
A: There are two ways to be in a battle. If you want to challenge another person, click Battle in the menu, then click the "New Battle" button. Enter a name for the battle, the name of the member you wish to challenge, a password for the battle, and an amount to wager (optional). Your friend will get a PM with the information, and can join the battle from there. On the other hand, if you are challenged by another person, check your PM inbox for your challenge and join the battle that way.

You can also go into your RPG menu and click on monster arena. You will be presented with a list of monsters you can fight and practice on. The monsters available to you will depend on your experience level. Choose a monster to fight and click on it, then enter the information as for a person to person battle. Monsters are a good way to try out new equipment, rack up experience points or just learn how the RPG works.

Q: OK, I'm in the battle. How do I fight?
A: If it is your turn, you will be given a few choices on what to do. General choices are to attack with your weapon, defend yourself, use an item, retreat, or request a draw. Select the option you want, then put a message to say in the box below (optional, but fun). Click Submit Action and sit back. Tell your opponent to refresh the page and it will be their turn to attack. Repeat the process until someone is defeated.

At the end of the battle, don’t forget to click on “accept results of this battle”. If you don’t, your battle won’t officially end and you won’t get your experience points.

Q: When I try to battle, it says that I need to update my stats. What do I do?
A: Click on “RPG” then “headquarters”. Scroll down and find “update character”. Check the box and save changes. You can also access this page through a link in your user cp.

Q: My stats are up to date, but when I try to battle, it still says that I'm ineligible for battle and that I need to update my stats. What's up with that?
A: Before you go into battle, the system checks for a few things. If you have no money, no HP (you are dead), are banned, or a few other reasons, then you will not be able to battle. Healing yourself or gaining some money should fix that problem.

Q: When I put a wager on my battle, it says that I don't have enough money to wager. What's wrong?
A: Well, it's most likely that you don't have the amount of money that you wagered. Check the amount you wagered and try again.

Q: I'm in battle, but my opponent won't attack and I can't leave battle. What should I do?
A: If you're in "Battle Limbo", you won't be able to battle another person, nor will you be able to buy items or gain money. Battles that remain inactive will be stopped in 24 hours from the time they are started, but you can also PM an administrator to end the battle.

Health

Q: I'm dead! What do I do?
A: Go to the healing center to heal yourself. Choose how much you are willing to spend and check the box. Then click “heal me”. The more hit points/magic points you heal, the more it costs.

Gil

Q: How do I earn gil?
A: You can earn gil in three ways. One is posting on the forum. You earn 15 gil per new thread started and 5 gil for each post you make. You can also earn gil by making wagers and winning person to person battles. You do not earn any gil fighting in the monster arena. You can also earn gil by buying tickets in the Shady Lottery and being lucky enough to win, when there is one being run. The amount won depends on the number of tickets sold. Another way to earn gil is by referring friends, family ect to the forum. You get 20 gil for each one that registers and states during registration that they were referred by you.

Bank

Q: What is the Bank?
A: The Bank is a place you can store your money and earn interest. Just click the bank in the Item Shop and deposit or withdrawal any amount you wish. We are currently having some problems with the bank eating peoples deposits. If this happens, PM an admin to have the amount lost restored.

The Item Shop

Q: What is the Item Shop?
A: The item shop is a very important part of the RPG. It is here that you can use the gil you earned on the forum to kit out your character in the best weapons and armour you can afford and that’s allowed by your current level.

The item shop is divided into several categories.

One handed weapons – Light and easy to use weapons. Can be used with a shield.
Armour – Body protection.
Headgear – Hats and helmets.
Armgear – Wrist protection and gloves.
Shields – Extra protection and defence. Can be used as a weapon. May only be used with a one handed weapon.
Items - Potions and items to restore health and magic points.
White Spells – Spells for restoring health points. You only need to buy a spell once. After that, each use will only cost you magic points.
Black Spells – Spells that cause damage to the enemy. You only need to buy a spell once. After that, each use will only cost you magic points.

You can buy and use one item from each category, except weapons, at the same time, so you can eventually battle with your character fitted out with a weapon, be wearing armour, headgear and armgear, while carrying an item and a black and white spell.

What items your character can buy depends on its level and class. For example, a warrior can buy swords the mages and scholars can't. Likewise, the mage can buy staffs and rods the other classes can't. Armour and spells are divided the same way. In addition, you must be up to the level required before a weapon, armour, spell ect becomes available to you.

You can experiment by placing your character in the different classes and taking a look at what they can and can't use.

Clans

Q: Can I make my own clan?
A: Yes, you can. You can create an "Alignment" with up to five classes for a fee. You will be given a certain amount of points to spend on each class for RPG benefits such as HP, MA, etc. The cost for your own alignment is 7,500 Coins.

This was/is a very interesting and unique idea. Basically it's another FF online game. How do you win (or is it just like a pyramid with all us peeons on the bottom and a Cloude Strife on top? :)

Another question....upon getting magic...I can equip only one white spell & one Black spell?....& are they in relation with my opponent's Element ?or mine?....

Tiny Bronco 01-26-2006 05:41 PM

Re: RPG Hack - Users Guide

I think they are in relation ship with YOUR element and that your opponents element does stuff only for them.
