Wouldn't you say? Look at Fox news, for example. The one here in Colorado Springs is an avid Republican supporter, or as some would say, it's part of the huge circle of Republican media. There's a brief section on world events, and then you get to see all of this other bullshit that's irrelevant to anything important.

20/20 Does almost the same thing--it's not a news special, it's ENTERTAINMENT.

(Oh, and by the way, John Stossel on 20/20 is a complete bunghole.)

i agree with both of you. sheesh i mean with all the problems goin on in the real world the media publicizes-(mispell maybe- i don care)- the most ridiculous crap like inside edition for example. one minute they talkin about a sad tragedy like lemme use an example here- like a fire that killed some kids. then the next minute their tryin to change the subject with something completely ridiculous like this one broad goin to college gettin fake boobs for the new school year. i mean WTF???

Another thing i might add is that people switch their t.vs on for entertainment purposes so they are watching the news and many other different programmes. Basically the news is entertainment.

Yes, all of that and what dappa said is part of the point that I'm trying to make. Most news programs I wouldn't even consider to be news at ALL--such as all of the 'celebirty news' programs. Celebirties are paid to have their lives publicized, and then we get this evening/late night shit that has nothing to do with anything. When we watch this crap, it's like we're having a really strange dream, and then waking up from it to the face of REALITY. Reality is what television is truly missing nowadays (and no, not that reality TV bullshit. I would shoot myself if I was trying to support THAT.)

yes percisely...yeah like who gives a crap about what celebrety is divorcing such & such. or who dating who thats all garbage compared to what really happening with the world ya kno. children are starving in africa the war in iraq is screwin with our econimy. and they can't figure out what to report on television. hell they should help out instead of reporting nonsense if you ask me. hell im sure those broadcasting networks make more than a decent penny. lemme go to another thread & calm down a bit. peace
