|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
ok i have them for the playstion 1
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I have them (and have played them) for the PS1; I also recently picked up a copy of Dawn of Souls... why is it 'nerfed'?
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I have the NES versions of them, now all I need is a working NES. =P
I also have Dawn of Souls as well, that version is kinda horrible though. |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
Yeah? Why though?
BTW: I could sell you my working NES if you'd like.... 0_0 I am a businessman after all...name your price. |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2

Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
Final Fantasy I and II are probably two the the hardest Final Fantasy games, if only because of ancient gameplay mechanics and frequent random encounters. Otherwise, if you know how to play through them, you shouldn't have much trouble.
The Dawn of Souls version of the games, although enjoyable, was extremely toned down in the difficulty department, possibly to cater to the newer generation of players who rightly shouldn't have to put up with aforementioned ancient gameplay mechanics. FFII wasn't as toned down as FFI, however, but both games were nerfed quite a bit. Examples include the ability to save anywhere (both games), the ability to hold 99 of every item (both games), the max level becoming 99 (FFI), more proficiency points gained after using a weapon or spell (FFII), and so on. However, the Dawn of Souls version also has two new bonus dungeons (or a bonus campaign in the case of FFII), and many heartwarming references to the later games in the series, and many of the bugs that plagued the older versions of the game were fixed. Anyway. I own the NES version of FFI, as well as FFI and FFII in Final Fantasy Origins. I believe the PlayStation version is the best incarnation of these two games, they both retain the unnerving difficulty as well as having beautiful graphics and near-orchestral quality music. The Bestiary, Item, and Art Collection (Amano <3) are great additions as well. I do enjoy the extra content in Dawn of Souls, but it'd be nice if they didn't completely destroy any difficulty these two games may've had, even if the intention was nice. |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I own a few FF carts: FF1 NES (with manual and maps), FF Mystic Quest, and FFII (IVj). I have Origins, but I'm more down with emulating the original NES versions (frozen NESes are not fun times) because it just doesn't feel right with the new visuals. Conversely, I dig the Chronicles version of FF4 because it's hardtype.

I like Zeromus_X's breakdown on the differences. I thought the PS1 (the only ones I've played) versions of FF1 and 2 were off teh chain in terms of difficulty. I think I'd preferr playing the GBA DoS edition...I let my freind borrow it since I was still playing DQ VIII. :p ...But I'll get it back -> someday. P.S. Ultimecia - Check my profile for my home page link ;) |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I own the roms for the nes versions of 1 and 2 and I own the origins version for the playstation 1.
The frequent battles on ff1 drove me up the wall sometimes. |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
reasoniamalive, you could always play FF1 on Easy mode in FF:Origins if you're having problems. Well, unless you're already playing that lol. It is easier mainly in that you level up faster, and can cast far more spells before you need to rest.
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I don't have either game and I have never played them either. You guys are lucky that you were able to.

Thanks ShadowHeart...I WAS (and think I still am) on normal mode...just restarted with a White mage instead of a red one (the white mage can cast the life spell.) :p |

The GBA versions seem to be toned down in difficulty a lot. I liked the days when games were actually a challenge, games these days seem to be getting easier and easier. =P |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
i cant remember what difficulty level i was on but i found it rather hard aswell i proberly made the same mistake as you reasonimalive lol
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I can't imagine going through on original difficulty with only white mages/wizardz0z
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
yeah that would be extremely hard you wouldnt have any money from buying spells you wouldnt win many battles at the start it would be a catastrophe lol
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
Now that would be a challenge. It would have me pulling my hair out in despair.
As for the enemies in ff1, I haven't noticed any difference in their strength/levels on either normal or easy mode. They are vicious regardless of what mode you have it on. Especially the temple of chaos past. |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
How about;
A solo White-mage challenge on normal difficulty? Only something a God would attempt. XD |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
dappa, that's because there isn't any difference in that department. Easy mode is only really easier in that you level up faster and can cast more magic. That does make a difference, but not as much as the changes in Dawn of Souls..
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
Yeah your right shadowheart them minimal spell casts on normal mode to some extent made the game a bit harder harder but what I did to get round it was to rely more on weapons which had spells inbedded in them to make up for the lack of magic power.
Them minimal spell casts didn't half suck on the final dungeon. |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
i cant believe people are still posting on this forum yaay! lol

Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
i didnt say stop posting though and keep on the subject who has ff1 n ff2

Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I've got the GBA rerelease of FF1 and 2. I played the first FF on the NES and I also played the PS rereleases. On the GBA I've gotten fairly far in FF 1, I'll play it some more if I can pull myself away from FFVI Advance.
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I've played FF1 on regular Nintendo, but not for long. I have FF2 (or 4..whatever) for SNES, PS1 and Gameboy Advance.
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I got the GBA version of them and i beat them both. FFII was way harder than FFI to me.
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
FF 2 seems to be easier to me that 1...but I'm still pretty early in the game.
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I think ff2 is alot easier than one. Forget the cancelling bug. I only had any trouble in the game with those black knights with their blood sword attacks in the final dungeon.
Those black knights are lethal to a poorly equipped party |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
My friend was telling me about a Desert town that he took a ship/walked to where the enemies outside the town turned two of his party members to stone and the last character got a beat-down by the 8 monster party sporting 200 Dmg/thwack! 0.0!
That would suck...he didn't save for a while either. XD! He really likes the game though - he's put in a lot of hours so far. |
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
i have ff1 for psp...i got it yesterday....it so kool...
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
You have about 80% of the forum envious of you now...including me. = 3

|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2

|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I've had only ff2 since being a small child, not ff1 though
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
Cool leon, wish I owned these games when they first came out, I got my copies in 2003 for psone.
|
Re: who actually has ff1 and ff2
I've got 1&2 but for the Playstation. Found 1 really tough but 2 pretty easy even without abusing the system. I tried the original FF1 on an emulator...daaaaamn! Enjoy grinding levels? :p
