I just found out that if you attack an miss then your limit goes up but is reset when the battle is over. I'm close to level 20! Saving up to buy a sheild.

Well yes you make a good point. I've been experimenting and when ever I change my character from a Black Mage to something else and back again his stats. are a bit diff. for better or worse its hard...
