Sounds to me like you are not leveled up enough. <Duh! You say...>
Well KS has to be 3x the level he would normally have to be at - or at least near that to survive, correct? I guesstimating that would put him somewhere in the area of lev. 51; although you could probably get through DG on lev. 40 or so. You just have to get your HP up high enough. I would think that leveling up more would be the key; which makes me think: "How are the green dragons over at Nibelheim doing this time of year?"
Not sure if they give more exp than where you are at now, but if you have the dexterity to withstand their attacks and a red/fire armlet you should be fine. Just a thought.
