When you master a job you see a star over that characters head this means if the mastered job has a job characteristic the mime or the bare will inherit these abilities without having to use these in their ability slots.
If you master all jobs you can get a bare or a mime with all the characteristics of all the jobs which makes these the ultimate jobs.
