If you wanna ever play an RPG that you can master within a day and beat it etc, play Ys Book I and II. Book II usually takes up an afternoon, and Book I takes up a few hours - especially the mine boss near the beginning after the shrine. It's a pain in the ass - having to hit it on the head.
