Return damage on Gnoma?!

Seems that if my characters attack (physical dmg) the Gnoma entite, they get hurt (but just a tiny bit, given all my guys are a high level). The only other place I've seen "damage return" is in Warcraft III and DOTA ALLSTARS (a game based on WC III).

Is this a question, or simply an observation?

There are several enemies in this game with the return damage innate ability. Off the top of my head, all of the elemental enemies in the game have this ability, as well as Omega Mk. XII.

There are maybe a few more, but I don't recall ATM.
