Re: The Trek
Kirk set the bar for Starfleet captains, Picard I think is a great follow-up to captain Kirk. In my opinion Star Trek: The Original had a lot more action. "TNG" is more of a drama.

Re: The Trek
Well that is true but in next gen they wanted Picard a thinker because they wanted more diplomatic solutions.

Re: The Trek
I prefer next generation cause the special effects are better. When you get older you tend to notice when they land on a planet on the original series, the baclgrounds all look the same.

Re: The Trek
Even though that might be true, Star Trek did span in to a huge franchise, even with crappy props.

Re: The Trek
I respect both opinions, everyone has their own.
But still, Picard did turn into the Borg.

Re: The Trek
Anyone seen the pilot episodes of the original series? Those few episodes are rarely shown on t.v. Captain pike is the captain for those few episodes then kirk takes over after.

Re: The Trek
There is an episode in the original series where kirk and crew are stopped by aliens who would like to take kirks visitor 'captain pike' back to there home planet to live out his final days with them.
This particular episode makes references to those pilot episodes when pike was a younger man and met those aliens when he used to be a captain. In the pilot episodes only spock is in the original crew. When the pilot episodes were concluded kirk was the new captain and there was a new crew but with spock still in it. This is good trivia in case you are ever asked this question in a quiz "Who is the original captain"? |
