anyone else get stuck in phoenix cave?

sheesh, i feel like i'm missing something cause I've been stuck in the Phoenix Cave for a couple of days now. ;ouc
the red dragon is history, but my 2 parties seem to be separated to the point where they can do no good for each other (hitting switches for each other)

after the red dragon, you have to switch your parties over and progressively move towards a large area to the left and down from the red dragon. Your two parties will be in a common area. Head to the bottom of the screen to find Locke.
