i have a system. i assign each lady 4 dresspheres and 1 lady and extra based on a few things.

Yuna - Gunner, Gun Mage, Black Mage, White Mage,
Rikku - Theif, Alchemist, Berserker, Songstress, Lady Luck
Paine - Warrior, Samurai, Dark Knight, Trainer

I mastered each of these with each lady. Yuna is pretty conerned with magic, Paine with strength, and Rikku with everything else. She's the utility girl. i can't say i have a favor dressphere but there are certain ones in certain situations. like when im training i set yuna up as a hite mage and focus on rikku and paine. since there are two attackers, the battles last a tad bit longer, but they are continuously getting healed by Yuna.

and with bosses, i scan for their weakness (if their is one) and i change dresspheres to exploit that. and whenever the HP is low of my characters, i switch to white mage with Yuna.

it just all depends on the strategy i use
