Who Knew
When the creators of the series started Final Fantasy, I wonder how far they thought the series of games would go? Would they have imagined the great amount of success it's had, and why do you think Final Fantasy isn't as popular in America as it is in Japan ?

Re: Who Knew
Well, I don't think they thought it'd sell much. But when they found it it would, they had to think of something else. And that's where they excel. They can make each and every game absolutely different with references in each one to another. Not a lot of developers can do that.
It's popular in Japan, because people in Japan are craz...appeal more to the role playing games. We're terribly bias, and if it doesn't have guns in it, we might not play it. Why do you think Dirge of Cerberus was created? ;]

Re: Who Knew
When they started Final Fantasy, the creators didn't think that the game would go anywhere at all- that's why the game is called Final Fantasy. It was supposed to be Square's swan song.
But then it became amazingly popular and generated the endless sequels, remakes, ports, and spin-offs that we have today. Go figure. |

Re: Who Knew
Rad Racer was one of Square's early, well-known games, but they didn't really specialize in the racing genre.

Re: Who Knew
who would of thought that square "putting all their eggs in 1 basket" as the saying goes and coming up with their final fantasy, would produce 13 awesome sequels.
like zero said final fantasy was a last ditch effort by square before hanging up the towel on games forever, thank god they didn't.

Wow that's insane, it's funny to realize that with their last ditch effort they were able to blow peoples mind with 13 excellent games (minus X-2, blech). In our dying moments we can become a phoenix
