Re: Lvl or not lvl.
Well for me, I'd try junctionning somethin good to Spr coz that's how you'd reduce the damage or using shell against breath
Actually it's just a guest but the fun is in finding out see One of the things I loved the most about the monsters is their unique special attacks some are just special attacks while others are limit breaks used only on low health which is why I leveled up so much in the first place As for random battles, other than bosses I feel that each monster has its own character (long story): Take those with a clear elemental weakness like Bombs or Glacial Eyes Another is those who rely on physical attacks like wendigos (so many diffrent physical attacks) Another facsination is the blobra, did you know that each one has a RANDOM elemental weakness? and there's fastitocalon who are weak against thunder when in underground Malboros and Ochus who rely on status change attacks Buels althought easy to hit physically they're pretty strong against magic!!! the annoyingly smart imps the wonderfull toramas who switch between physical and magical attacks Giants and turtapods who have awesome vitality should be attacked with magic or Meltdown at least! the list goes on.................................. To conclude, every monster has its own clear character! Last edited by Slider; 02-16-2007 at 02:16 PM. |

Re: Lvl or not lvl.
Breath is entirely physical, so it's only Vit that counts, Spr won't matter 255 Vit and it will do less than 100 damage

Yep I do. It sounds like you haven't played the game as much as I have (which is only 4 or 5 times though ), but I wouldn't know
And sorry for spoiling it heh.

Re: Lvl or not lvl.
hmmmmmm, good question. For me power-training always does the trick yet that seems to not be the case in FFVIII. I can't do much at the moment as i've lent it to a friend, who just loves it. I thought he might not, but you never know.

Re: Lvl or not lvl.
heh, that cuz monsters lvl up as well when you do, they get special attacks, higher magics
so shadowheart might be right that it's easier to stay low level, but aside from missin alot of fun and challenges the monsters will drop non-rare items and have low magic levels makin it harder to find good magics and items if you really want to power-level in ff8 checkout my golden tips in the information forum ! |

Re: Lvl or not lvl.
I will still stick to my argument that powerlevelling on this game is better than lowlevel.
I really dont think the monsters get that much more powerful. Yeah I know they get higher stats and some newer attacks but magic in this game dont do alot of damage anyway unless you are rinoa. If you get a 255 for defence, no ammount of stat changes in strength for monsters are gonna hurt you anyway.

Re: Lvl or not lvl.
First time I played it I tried not to use any walkthroughs, and therefore didn't have many GFs, also couldn't figure out the card game so didn't have many items, so it was all about junctioning, but i hadn't found the Islands closest to...s yet so there wasn't much to junction, and Ultimacia was very very hard, in the end everyone was absorbed into time except Squall and Quistis, which I thought was lovely as they were the two that started it all together .
Second time I played I got everything, all GFs, all tough magics on 100 for all characters, and it was fun that way too, though it meant Ultimacia was a bit of a push-over, she's still the hardest FF boss.. Cept for Sin (european) still haven't beaten that bugger. |

Re: Lvl or not lvl.
I only had trouble with ultimecia and griever on my first playthrough. Mainly due to me having my magic "blown away" thus weakening my characters. Its an epic battle or should I say a struggle if you aint junctioned properly.
I love it when griever and ultimecia join together to do their super attack. I just watch it for the animation now as my characters have 255 for defence and nowt hurts them.
