Vanish/Doom vs. Vanish/Xzone

I've seen in some strategy guides throughout the years about the "vanish-Xzone" trick. I actually figured it out before I saw it, but what I ended up doing was using Doom instead, at least if the monster was alive.

I heard there was a bug with using X-zone, like if you use it on Doom Gaze it will not cough up Bahamut. However I have experience using Vanish-Doom on Doom Gaze and I get the magicite just fine.

In fact, Doom is how I cheap Intangirs.

I also heard that this bug was fixed for advance and no longer guaranteed works.

Re: Vanish/Doom vs. Vanish/Xzone

On the older versions of ff6 unless the monster is immune to vanish (there are a few) you can get a 100% chance of hitting an enemy with a status ailment or death if you use it because vanish removes an enemies mblock down to zero. Of course some enemies are immune to certain status ailments.

I dont use vanish and doom or xzone cause I dont see the point of it, unless i want to powerlevell above the veldt

I usually like it for convenience. Either to end a battle quickly for time factor, or to end a battle quickly because I don't want my characters to die/get hurt.

Yeah even in FF 6 there are a couple of monsters immune to vanish (including, for example, Nerapa).

Oh, and BTW: It DOES NOT work in VI Advance. As far as I know it does work in all other versions of the game.

Yeah, that's what I heard. My friend who has the GBA version told me.

At least Zombie + Life (cheapness) still works in FF VIII (the nearest equivalent) (and you can still cast Life on Undead in IX--and it's rehashed the ability to kill Stone with Soft from V.)
