Is Halo 2 the best first-person shooter?

WOW. What a tough question.

I personaly love Halo and Halo 2 a lot and have Xbox Live just for it.

Even though people say it has a bad storyline they either haven't played Halo 1 or just not all of the levels so they have no clue about it's background which is understandible. However, i do agree it is NOT the best game. In fact it's no where close, but it is definitaly the best first person shooter. Especially if you have three or so people to play multi-player against.

This is the way I see it.

You play Halo 1 for a great storyline ONLY

You play Halo 2 for great multiplayer ONLY

I think halo 1 and 2 have good storylines but yeah the multiplayer is the best.

personally, and a few people will prob hate me for saying this, but, i found halo1 far more impresive than halo2.

Me and my friends in our school days spent many a hous playing halo1, and i mean hours!! we could sit and play through every map 3 or 4 times. My friends used to love playing halo against me [ i was a GC man at the time ] and all of them owning an xbox they pretty much wiped the floor with me, untill i got good

[ this is going somewhere btw ] We had pretty much played halo to death. and once halo2 came out we thought WOOOHOOO carnage time again, and for the first month or so we played it to death, i still play it now on Live, but i think because we played halo1 SOOOOOOO much, halo2 kinda got old quickly, and we'd get bored after 1 run through the maps, we tried editing game types to make it more interesting but it didnt quite have the oumph halo1 had. as for other FPS games, the only others i play tend to be PC ones, inc halo PC :P
but console wise, id choose as my favs:
HALO1/2
CoD2
Quake4
Doom3
and a few others :P

Even tho i love the Halo games i have to say no i think CounterStrike Or Call of Duty has to be the best but if u were asking what was best Futuristic FPS i would deffinatly say yes

Considering it's the best one I'VE played so far, I'll say that I agree. For right now anyway.

no, its not. it's close, but not quite. the #1 spot is reserved for Goldeneye 007 on N64. yea, the characters were literally blocks stacked atop each other, but Goldeneye was, is, and still is it. if i had to choose a spot for halo, it'd be like #1.000000000000000001. but it'll never be #1 over Goldeneye

I liked Halo 1 as a game better. But Halo 2 with X Box Live just blew it outda the water!
