SPOILERS!! FF6 world = FF9 world????
SPOILERS
i reckon FF6 has something to do with FF9 heres an idea. maybe the statues from FF6 are moved again after the end of the game and the face of the world is formed into the world from FF9. (Gaia) Terra could be the esper world, but it got VERY MESSED up. They named it Terra after (of course) the main character Terra. The guy that made the genomes (cant remember name sorry) maybe destroyed or sucked the power out of the statues to make enough power to: Wreck Terra Make Genomes Remake the face of the world. thats a crazy idea i thought of

Re: SPOILERS!! FF6 world = FF9 world????
Disregarding a couple of exceptions, none of the Final Fantasy universes are connected. It's true that FFIX shares a number of similarities with the older games, this is because it was meant to be a nostalgic game with many references to the older games. But they most certainly aren't in the same world.
Also of note, Terra's original Japanese name is Tina. This means that they didn't name the Genome world after her, rather, Terra is simply Latin for 'Earth'. |

Well theres go's that idea,
but seriously, I KNOW that FF9 was a uh, what did you call it, a nostalgic game or wateva. It a "back to its roots" game. Who cares bout the whole name of Terra, it was SPELLED the same, so does it matter? but other than that, do you think it is a cool idea???????????

Re: SPOILERS!! FF6 world = FF9 world????
The original creators of the game wouldn't have made the planet Terra a reference to the character in FFVI if her original name was Tina.
Yes, it's a pretty neat idea, but it's ultimately non-canon. |

Kind of hard for the statues to wreak havoc on the planet again when they were destroyed by the party before you fight Kefka in the end of FFVI.

None of the FF's are connected except FFX and FFX-2 and possibly FFVII and FFX (according to Square-enix).
As Zeromus said; Terra (the planet in FFIX) is a reference to Terra from FFVI. |

Re: SPOILERS!! FF6 world = FF9 world????
I was actually saying that it wasn't a reference to Terra in FFVI. Sorry if I was confusing.

AS I already said. Every single Final Fantasy game is connected in some way. Some of them are more connected than the others, but...

Re: SPOILERS!! FF6 world = FF9 world????
Not all of the Final Fantasies are connected. They have references, and common themes and features of course, but they aren't set in the same world or universe (the exception being FFVII, X, and X-2).

Re: SPOILERS!! FF6 world = FF9 world????
There's a guide on GameFAQS giving all the past FF references.
The link to the FAQ is: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/f..._reference.txt Square seriously messed up on the FFVI names, 'Locke' was supposed to be 'Lock' and I think Kefka was supposed to be Cefca but I'm not too sure.

Re: SPOILERS!! FF6 world = FF9 world????
I wouldn't say they messed up on the names too much. It was annoying that Woolsey changed the names of some of the characters, but if it's for the sake of localization, then it can be forgiven. For example, 'Tina' is a rather exotic name in Japan, as the "Tee" sound isn't used very often in Japanese. But in western countries, it's a rather common name. Some names were also changed because of space restrictions (Cayenne to Cyan, Stragus to Strago, etc).
As for Locke, well, that's not too big a deal. They're both pronounced exactly the same way, Lock just predates Locke as an official romanization. I guess it wouldn't look nice for a character to be named after a thing, or something. |
