Angra Mainyu

Is there any form of beating it without being über (Like, above Level 50ish) nor without Cat Nip?

I tried it at Level 36ish and died, it just kept regenerating.

Sounds like that monster in the Farplane when you don't get the music right.

(Btw, I'm about to get Cat Nip, but I would like to know if anyone was capable of defeating it without one )

well actually all i can say is....good luck.
i've tried to kill it many times but it just like....kicks my party out of battle is doesn't kill them.
and i was at like lv.78 maybe..ask Hydra he "might have" killed it

I cant beat it either but I find it always has a megaelixir on it to mug.

Just out of interest where is this catnip item? Is it a secret item?

I didn't beat it... I reached 93% in FFX-2, I think...

I beat him...but it was so long ago I don't remember my strategy. I believe it was DRK, DRK, Thief---> WHM---> DRK.

I got yuna to sing the song which greatly increases your evasion using the songstress job. None of his physical attacks hit me. Appart from the one which wallops you outta battle.

its been awhile since I last looked at this thread.

But I defeated the angra mainyu in the save the cactuars mission using two dark knights and one songstress.

I found special dress spheress tho lovely to look at to be too slow. If i used a special dress sphere this mighty fiend would defeat me due to the slowness of the dress spheres.

Yuna: Gunner -> Trigger Happy Level 3, equipped with Speed Bracer and Catnip;
Rikku: Songstress -> Magical Masque. I don't remember what she had equipped;
Paine: Same as Yuna.

They were in the 92-96 Level range.

I think I just used two dark knights and an alchemist. It wasn't too hard, although I think my level was something like 70.

Yes, I did use some Phoenix Downs too.

I also had to battle it some times until I could finally reach that strategy.

It was a hard battle. I had to use Phoenix Downs in a regular basis. I used about 15-20, until I managed to defeat Angra Mainyu.

You have to be in the Critical status first.

I've heard in some versions off FFX2 that the catnip item berserks your character out and makes em hit for 9999hp damage but you have no control over it.

Yeah, in FFX-2 International + Last Mission Catnip also adds Berserk and Slow to your characters. This stops people from using it in conjunction with multi-hit attacks like trigger happy, a combo that makes even the hardest bosses in the game a complete joke.

I've never even heard of this Cat Nip. I beat Angra Mainyu just fine without it. o_o

I don't remember exactly how, but I know I just used my regular tactics...and it was all good.
