So...
In a book series I read (The House Of Night Series in case anyone wonders) People can only be changed into a vampire by another vampire; they call it being 'Marked'.
When that vampire casts that spell on you, you get a crescent moon on your forehead.
You're body then begins to change. You don't exactly lose humanity, you body just has a few changes, lololols.
When you're marked, you only have two choices.
You HAVE to go to the House Of Night, or you will die.
Even IF you go to the House Of Night, you body can still reject the change and you will die--your lungs start to deteriorate and blood comes out of everywhere--but thats a whole other story. o.o;
While at this Vamp school, a fledging (a person who has just become a vampire) will learn how to deal with the change and all that good stuff.
When your body starts getting the vampirey effects, you can't get drunk off beer anymore. It has something to do with the EXTREMELY fast metabolism.
BUUUUUT.
You can get a buzz from drinking human blood.
This is sorta the freaky part.
When any vampire (or vampyer as they call them in the series) drinks blood from a human they and the human get "pleasure" from it. o.o"
ANYWAY. XD
These vampires DO need human blood to live, but very little...

and thats all I feel like explaining at the moment.

Basically, house of night is somewhat of a high school for vampires.
There are third formers, fourth formers, fifth formers, sixth formers, and Vamps.

Third formers are the freshmen, the newbies.
Fourth formers are Sophmores.
Fifth formers are juniors.
Sixth formers are the seniors.
and Vamps are what you call the professors of the school.

The kewl thing is, there are no fledgings at the house of night that will misbehave.
Because of some changes of the vampire thang, adult vampires have intuitive powers to a certain strength.
